| A selection of jewelry by Ibram Lassaw |
In the late 1940's Lassaw began making one-of-a-kind welded pendants or "bosom sculptures". Later he added stones and sometimes delicate chains to some. The Kootz Gallery sold many of these pendants from around 1951 until they closed the gallery in 1968. There are well over a thousand pendants out in the world. Beginning in the late 70's most pendants were plated with gold and a few others with silver. He also made a few belt buckles and on special order ceremonial breastplates. One pendant was lost in the river Seine and one was stolen in India. There is no knowing where they all are. Each one is signed. If you have one of these pendants please send a photo. |
