Photographs of Sculpture and People
Lassaw documented each of his sculptures as it was finished. If you need a reproduction of any work, please ask. In general, requests for reproductions in art books are granted without charge. It seems that the general sources of art photographs have only a few Lassaw works available. Lassaw made over 400 works and it would be nice to see more variety of his works represented in books
Besides drawing and sculpting, Ibram Lassaw took photographs of both people and places in his life. In the 1940s, he took black and white photographs and developed them in his darkroom, but by the early 50s, he had a Kodak Stereo Realist camera and took some wonderful pictures of many of our friends. I have been scanning these images and making prints from them. If you are writing a book about someone who was a friend of Ibram Lassaw, I am willing to check to see if we have images of them.
Should you have images of Ibram and Ernestine Lassaw taken by someone, I would like copies for my archives.
In few cases, publishers have used photographs by Ibram Lassaw without asking permission. When I discover these in books I always take action.
